HF24HOTA – gaining Momentum, Record Number of QSOs
Summary
In the HOTA 2024 season, a real team was born! Michał was the first to hit the slag heaps, soon joined by Marcin SP9MCQ and Kuba SP9VIK. In the middle of the season, Tomek SP9XL joined in – and from that moment things really took off!
Throughout the season we completed 1661 QSOs for 948 hunters from 44 countries, spending a total of 37 hours on air. Hunters received 18 certificates, young hunters 78 certificates, and one lucky operator became the Top HOTA Hunter.
The season lasted until mid‑December; it was cold, windy, and snowy – the perfect scenery for our expeditions! That was the moment when the action truly kicked off and people started calling us in huge numbers. We began assembling our gear: tables, chairs, tents – real field furniture ready for action!
The 2024 season was pure HOTA madness – full of laughter, QSOs, and epic views from the slag heaps. If you think it was just an ordinary season, know that this is where the real HOTA magic began!
Results and distinctions
At the very top of the ranking stood SP9GH – the undisputed winner of the season and holder of the title TOP HOTA HUNTER 2024, with an impressive 26 QSOs. A true display of consistency. Huge congratulations! 🏆
Right behind him – with truly remarkable results — were SP9ECS and SP9TKN, both achieving over 20 QSOs. These were the callsigns we heard on the air regularly, often in tough conditions, often at the edge of range — and always whenever HOTA was active.
But there is something even more important to highlight. The 2024 season brought an impressive number of awards — both the classic ones and the “Young Hunter” certificates. Each award is proof of dedication, patience, and the shared fun without which this activity wouldn’t have the same spirit.
Our thanks and congratulations go to all participants — hunters, activators, and everyone who stayed with us from the very first “CQ HOTA” all the way to the frosty December activations. It was you who made the 2024 season the moment when HOTA truly gained momentum 🚀
